Summary

An out-of-this-world romantic comedy featuring an astronaut tasked with training a Hollywood actor for a space flick。

Astronaut Regina “Reggie” Hayes wants to be the first woman on the moon—it’s all she’s ever dreamed of。 But after a PR disaster, Reggie is off the list for a lunar mission。 To rehabilitate her reputation with NASA, she agrees to a different kind of assignment: astronaut “training” with a Hollywood action hero。

Jon Leo is a charmer。 With credits that include an underperforming sitcom and a campy action flick called Space Dude, his upcoming role in a prestigious movie could prove he’s a star。 But Jon isn’t just big muscles and an otherworldly smile—he’s also a total space nerd。 He’s pumped about his own personal space camp…until he meets ice-cold Reggie。

Although Reggie and Jon are polar opposites, their mutual attraction is undeniable, and it only takes a few weeks in close quarters for them to give in to its magnetic force。 Jon is set on convincing Reggie this is a match made in the heavens, but her future is in space, and his is among stars of the Hollywood kind。 The odds of successfully launching a real relationship outside the confines of the training base are anything but optimal。

Reggie, content with keeping things casual, is forced by a sudden turn of events to confront the possibility of losing Jon forever。 Now, she’ll do whatever it takes to win both the man and the moon。

4 - 4。5 StarsA feel-good romantic comedy that mixed a sunshiny hero and a grumpy heroine, The Astronaut and the Star made (more than) good on the author's premise。 Add in well fleshed-out secondary characters, lots of science and tons of fun banter and you've got yourself a winner。 Full review to follow。 4 - 4。5 StarsA feel-good romantic comedy that mixed a sunshiny hero and a grumpy heroine, The Astronaut and the Star made (more than) good on the author's premise。 Add in well fleshed-out secondary characters, lots of science and tons of fun banter and you've got yourself a winner。 Full review to follow。 。。。more

DNF @ 27%One of my favorite Disney Original movies of all time is Starstruck featuring Sterling Knight and Danielle Campbell。 The concept of a Hollywood big shot falling in love with the girl who could care less about his fame is super interesting to me and I feel all warm and gushy inside when I read about a guy who's helplessly in love with someone who doesn't notice。 I thought I would be getting something like this with The Astronaut and the Star , but here we are。 Reggie and Jon both act DNF @ 27%One of my favorite Disney Original movies of all time is Starstruck featuring Sterling Knight and Danielle Campbell。 The concept of a Hollywood big shot falling in love with the girl who could care less about his fame is super interesting to me and I feel all warm and gushy inside when I read about a guy who's helplessly in love with someone who doesn't notice。 I thought I would be getting something like this with The Astronaut and the Star , but here we are。 Reggie and Jon both act like they're in high school when they're most likely in their 30s。 Their dialogue and inner monologue is so cringe it's the reason I put the book down。 I mean。。。 just look at this conversation they have after knowing each other for a few hours:Reggie: I guess it's my fault。 My tits are really excellent in this。 Jon: You are a very accomplished and intelligent woman。 With extremely nice breasts。 Like。。。 ew!This was also feeling very insta-lovey to me and I hate that。 Like they were acting like they were in the presence of a God anytime they interacted with one another。 "She could barely breathe for fear of brushing against his stray hand or elbow。" This reaction just feels so out of character for Reggie。 She seems like the type that would bump into someone's elbow on purpose, not suffocate over the thought of grazing one! I would've loved to see Jon pining over Reggie and trying to get her to fall for him or something。 Instead, they were both finding one another drop dead gorgeous before even meeting one another and I feel like they each put the other persons looks over their personality。 Neither of them know anything about the other, yet they act like they're helplessly in love。 There's just too much cringe here to convince myself to read further。。。"Space Chef Jon, fuckin' flavor genius in da house。" Kylie officially out of da house 。。。more

Loved it!What a treat! I chose this book as my Kindle February choice, hoping it would be mildly entertaining。 It shot well past my expectations。 I loved it! Now I have to stalk the author for more great reads。

I thought this book was fine。 I thought some moments were genuinely sweet and funny, but others the dialogue was so cringey it’s a wonder it didn’t have its own laugh track to accompany it。 Overall, I thought the characters and their story were too stereotypical and predictable for a pretty original idea that could have been executed much better。

I got a copy of this book through Amazon First Reads。 I never really know what to expect with them, but I didn’t really expect this book to be good, just entertaining。 However, I was pleasantly surprised reading this! I loved all the detail that went into the astronaut work and science that was the background of the story。 I also really liked the main characters & their chemistry。 I would give this 4 stars & I would definitely read again!! So cute!

Great storyline & Potential but Soften the Rough Edges! This was a really cute storyline! The tables were really turned with the female focused on her career and sex with no strings or relationships。 and the male wanting it all。 The characters were very relatable ,interesting and I liked her development of each though I feel she could have gone deeper and still kept it light enough, I almost gave it a 3 because I’m pretty sure she lost some readers due to vulgar descriptions。 Call me old fashione Great storyline & Potential but Soften the Rough Edges! This was a really cute storyline! This book is unputdownable。 From the second the main characters meet, the most adorable, compelling sparks fly。 I loved every minute of reading this。 There are so many funny parts and parts that took my breath away for how real and deep they are。 I cannot wait for the next book by Jen Comfort - my new favorite author - #she's going to be famous。 This book is unputdownable。 From the second the main characters meet, the most adorable, compelling sparks fly。 I loved every minute of reading this。 There are so many funny parts and parts that took my breath away for how real and deep they are。 I cannot wait for the next book by Jen Comfort - my new favorite author - #she's going to be famous。 。。。more

(Amazon First Read - February 2022)This book leans towards the ridiculous and unbelievable starring The Two Stooges。 The three-dimensional compilation of space travel, female astronaut and an action-hero film star caught my attention – and there wasn’t much else that interested me among Amazon’s February First Read choices。 I went for the promise of rom-com but, if it was meant to be lovable and funny, it missed the launch by miles。 And the "star" power was nil。The main characters, Reggie Hayes (Amazon First Read - February 2022)This book leans towards the ridiculous and unbelievable starring The Two Stooges。 The three-dimensional compilation of space travel, female astronaut and an action-hero film star caught my attention – and there wasn’t much else that interested me among Amazon’s February First Read choices。 I went for the promise of rom-com but, if it was meant to be lovable and funny, it missed the launch by miles。 And the "star" power was nil。The main characters, Reggie Hayes and Jon Leo, were cast as mid-thirties, well-educated professionals。 But they acted like teenagers full of raging hormones and their immature stunts were just plain idiotic behavior。 Neither seemed to have a lick of sense and were annoying to say the least。 I gave Jon, the actor, a bit of leeway because of the hint that there was more to him than originally surfaced。 But even that lacked fulfillment and didn't lend much help to the sad situation。Not anything near what I expected and disappointing。 Laughably awful! I am thankful I didn’t pay for this bizarre book。 Enough said。  。。。more

The premise and writing alone are worth 3 stars。 The rest。 。。I'm sorry, but Reggie is such a sould sucking MC that I had to skim the parts where she was present。 I just couldn't stand her and could not understand why Jon liked her so much。 🤷 However。。。 Jen Comfort is definitely an author to watch for, she has really good writing skills。 The premise and writing alone are worth 3 stars。 The rest。 。。I'm sorry, but Reggie is such a sould sucking MC that I had to skim the parts where she was present。 I just couldn't stand her and could not understand why Jon liked her so much。 🤷 However。。。 Jen Comfort is definitely an author to watch for, she has really good writing skills。 。。。more

Great BookI really enjoyed this book。 I’m not a huge space buff but the details about the training in the book were really interesting and it made a great backdrop to watch Jon and Reggie fall in love。 There was a lot of emotion in the story, a lot more than I expected。 Both Reggie and Jon’s insecurities made total sense and the author wrote them so well。 My only complaint was that I wish there was an epilogue。 I liked the ending but it felt quick。 I would have loved a glimpse into how things wo Great BookI really enjoyed this book。 I’m not a huge space buff but the details about the training in the book were really interesting and it made a great backdrop to watch Jon and Reggie fall in love。 There was a lot of emotion in the story, a lot more than I expected。 Both Reggie and Jon’s insecurities made total sense and the author wrote them so well。 My only complaint was that I wish there was an epilogue。 I liked the ending but it felt quick。 I would have loved a glimpse into how things worked out in the future。 。。。more

Opposites Have a Chance Reggie and Jon are polar opposites and our thrust into an unexpected working relationship。 This is a nicely told romance with a fair share of stumbling blocks。 Reggie is probably the biggest stumbling block of all。The character development is well done。 You quickly find yourself cheering for the right outcome because both characters are interesting and likable。 The supporting characters, even when they only have brief appearances, are fleshed out enough to make them belie Opposites Have a Chance Reggie and Jon are polar opposites and our thrust into an unexpected working relationship。 This is a nicely told romance with a fair share of stumbling blocks。 Reggie is probably the biggest stumbling block of all。The character development is well done。 You quickly find yourself cheering for the right outcome because both characters are interesting and likable。 The supporting characters, even when they only have brief appearances, are fleshed out enough to make them believable。Definitely a fun and enjoyable read。 。。。more

Space on Earth 🚀👩‍🚀What fun! Reggie and Jon are perfectly cast as an astronaut dedicated to being the first woman to walk on the moon and an actor determined to make it big in Hollywood。 The additional cast of characters are quirky, serious, funny and menacing as required。 The storyline is sometimes sensitive, sometimes informative, sometimes sad, sometimes sexy, but always entertaining。 This is the first book by Jen Comfort that I've read。 I look forward to reading more of her books。 I encourag Space on Earth 🚀👩‍🚀What fun! Forced romance and cheap, immature comedy。 Reggie struggles with social interactions but you can’t empathize with her because she’s constantly thinking and saying the cruelest things。 How old is Jon supposed to be? He’s written like a horny, immature pre-teen instead of a whole adult man with an attention disorder。

It had a lot of potential, but this just wasn’t for me。 I liked Reggie’s character quite a bit and would have enjoyed the backdrop of astronaut training if a) the training actually made any sense and b) there was real chemistry between these characters。 Which there wasn’t。 Jon’s character was a pretty big turn off for me in that he’d switch from being goofy (in a way that comes across poorly) to just like…dirty talking? To a woman who said she did not want to sleep with him? This book was fine。 I was debating between 2 and 3 stars and decided to be generous。 It wasn't a bad book but the female lead wasn't a very likeable character for me and I did want the male lead to grow a pair of balls。 I don't have a problem with reading about strong female characters who ate career focused, but damn she was straight up mean。 I'm glad in the end she at least got into therapy so hopefully she can work on her issues This book was fine。 I was debating between 2 and 3 stars and decided to be generous。 It wasn't a bad book but the female lead wasn't a very likeable character for me and I did want the male lead to grow a pair of balls。 I don't have a problem with reading about strong female characters who ate career focused, but damn she was straight up mean。 I'm glad in the end she at least got into therapy so hopefully she can work on her issues 。。。more

What an engaging, nerdy, badass women in STEM, swoony hero, reverse sunshine/grump, little delight of a debut novel。 The slow burn chemistry is ✨everything✨。 The insecurities of our hero, on top of his absolute adoration of Reggie, is ✨everything✨。 Story fell apart a little at the end with the ridiculous domestic terrorist stuff and then the breakup and makeup, but all around a solid and satisfying ending。 Happy to see on-page therapy for Reggie since she really needed it。 Some of the things she What an engaging, nerdy, badass women in STEM, swoony hero, reverse sunshine/grump, little delight of a debut novel。 The slow burn chemistry is ✨everything✨。 The insecurities of our hero, on top of his absolute adoration of Reggie, is ✨everything✨。 Story fell apart a little at the end with the ridiculous domestic terrorist stuff and then the breakup and makeup, but all around a solid and satisfying ending。 Happy to see on-page therapy for Reggie since she really needed it。 Some of the things she says to Jon are rough。 Like if this was a man talking to a woman the way she talks to him I’d be like - get the matches we’re lighting men on fire today。 The fact that I’m more forgiving when it’s the woman saying it to the man is on me and my own self-reflection as a human, because Reggie can be a stone cold asshole for sure。 That Jon loves her through it makes him extra lovavale, but this wouldn’t have been an ok ending if Reggie hadn’t sought therapy and growth。 I thought the inclusion of the ADHD diagnosis as an adult was well done, glad to see neurodivergence showing up so much in romance lately。 。。。more

An astronaut romance? Sign me up。 This was a quick, fun read and it was so unique。 I absolutely adored Jon and Reggie and their hilarious banter。 The only thing that was weird was how the sex scenes were described…the descriptions were a little awkward。 I’m not really sure how to describe what was weird about them but overall it was a fun read!
